Christ wanted his followers to be united with him and with one another. Remembering that we are the flock of Christ and the branches of the Vine, let us pray that this unity may become a reality.
We pray for our Church: that all of God’s people may be united in a community of love.
We pray for our sisters and brothers who are suffering in India
We pray that we and world leaders and all of good will may value God’s creation and work tirelessly to preserve God’s great gifts.
For our civil leaders: that they may work to create a society in which all can enjoy the fruits of freedom, justice and peace.
For all those who have cut themselves off from Christ’s community – that they may be drawn back and rediscover Jesus the Son of God
We pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life
We pray for the sick and lonely ; that they may know that they are supported and cherished by our parishioners
For all Christians : that in this holy season of Easter they may learn to walk in the path of truth and goodness with ever greater love and humility
For doctors, nurses and all in the caring professions that their stock of understanding, compassion, caring and love may be constantly replenished
We pray for those who are hungry and we remember especially the work of CAFOD
For those who are victims of torture and violence
We pray for those facing loss of any kind: may we listen to their pain, support them in their anxieties and offer them hope and love in their need
We pray for all who suffer and feel rejected, or who are wounded in body, mind or spirit: may the example of Christ’s acceptance of suffering help them to find comfort in their uncertainties and struggles
We pray for those who will die tonight May they find in God a merciful saviour and a sure comfort.
Almighty and ever living God, fill our hearts with your love. Give us the grace to rise above our human weakness and keep us faithful to you and to one another
